What Is an Elopement?
An elopement is a smaller, simpler wedding ceremony focused on the couple. It does not have to mean running away or getting married in secret. Today, many couples elope because they want a more affordable, less stressful, and more personal way to get married.
At Diamond Wedding Chapel, your elopement can be private and simple, or it can include a few close family members and friends.

FAQ Section
How do I get legally married in Indiana?
To get legally married in Indiana, you must first apply for a marriage license through the county clerk’s office. If you are applying in Marion County, you can start the process online through the official Marion County marriage license application page.
After you complete the application, both people must appear at the clerk’s office to finish the process and receive the marriage license. Once you have your license, bring it with you to Diamond Wedding Chapel. Our in-house wedding officiant can perform your ceremony and sign the license after your wedding.
You can start here: Marion County Marriage License Application Process
Then complete our order form and submit your payment to reserve your date: Diamond Wedding Chapel Order Form
Do you provide a photographer?
No. Diamond Wedding Chapel does not provide a professional photographer. You are welcome to bring your own photographer to capture your ceremony and special moments.
For some ceremony packages, the officiant may be able to take a few quick photos with your device after the ceremony. You may also add our self-service photo booth, which includes up to 30 printed 4x6 keepsake photos and unlimited digital copies through an online gallery.
For more available options, please view our Add-On section.
Can we elope in Indianapolis?
Yes. Diamond Wedding Chapel offers elopement packages in Indianapolis for couples who want a simple, legal, and beautiful wedding ceremony.
Is an elopement legally the same as a wedding?
Yes. As long as your Indiana marriage license is properly completed and signed by an authorized officiant, your marriage can be legally recorded. An elopement is simply a smaller and more private type of wedding ceremony.
Do we need a marriage license?
Yes. You must bring your Indiana marriage license and valid photo identification. Our in-house officiant can complete and sign the license after your ceremony.
Can we bring guests?
Yes. Guest count depends on the package you choose. Some options are best for just the couple, while others allow close family and friends.
Can we exchange vows and rings?
Yes. Vows and ring exchange are welcome. You may keep the ceremony simple or make it more personal.
Can we bring our own officiant?
Yes. You may bring your own person to perform the ceremony if you prefer. They do not have to be a registered minister for us to sign the marriage license and complete the legal portion, as long as this is arranged with us before the ceremony.
Is this better than getting married at the courthouse?
Most Indiana counties, including Marion County, do not perform courthouse wedding ceremonies for couples. The courthouse is where you apply for and receive your Indiana marriage license. After you receive your license, Diamond Wedding Chapel can provide a simple chapel ceremony or legal signing with our in-house wedding officiant.
Can we book last minute?
Short-notice appointments may be available depending on our schedule. Please request a date or text us to check availability.
Do you offer same-day elopements?
Same-day availability may be limited, but you can contact us to see what appointment times are open. You must already have your Indiana marriage license before we can complete the legal marriage process.
