Many couples are surprised to learn that most courthouse or government buildings in Indiana, including Marion County, only issue marriage licenses. They usually do not perform the ceremony or sign the license to make the marriage legal.
After you receive your marriage license, you still need an authorized officiant to complete the ceremony or legal signing. Diamond Wedding Chapel offers a simple marriage license signing appointment at our Indianapolis chapel, so you can finish the legal step without planning a full wedding.

Our Ruby Package includes an appointment with our in-house wedding officiant to complete and sign your Indiana marriage license. Civil vows and ring exchange are optional. Up to 4 guests may attend. Witnesses are not required. This option does not include use of the chapel.

Please bring your Indiana marriage license and valid photo identification to your appointment. Both people getting married must be present.
If you forget your marriage license or required identification, we will not be able to complete the signing, and a return appointment fee may apply.

How do we get married in Indiana?
To get legally married in Indiana, you must first apply for a marriage license through the county clerk’s office. If you are applying in Marion County, you can start here: Marion County Marriage License Application Process.
After you receive your marriage license, bring it with valid photo ID to Diamond Wedding Chapel. Our in-house wedding officiant can perform your ceremony and sign your license after your wedding.
When you are ready to reserve your date, complete our Diamond Wedding Chapel Order Form and submit your payment.
Do you provide a photographer?
No. Diamond Wedding Chapel does not provide a professional photographer. But the Officiant can take a few pictures with your device after the ceremony.
You are welcome to bring your own photographer to capture your ceremony and special moments. Or add our self-service photo booth, up to 30 printed 4x6 photo booth keepsake prints, and unlimited digital photo booth copies through an online gallery.

Do we need witnesses in Indiana?
No. Witnesses are not required for a marriage ceremony in the State of Indiana. However, you may bring up to 4 guests with you for the Ruby Package. View our other packages if you have more that 4 guests.
Is this a wedding ceremony?
This is a simple marriage license signing appointment. You may say short vows and exchange rings if you would like, but this option does not include use of the chapel.
Do we need to bring our marriage license?
Yes. You must bring your Indiana marriage license and valid photo identification. We cannot complete the signing without them.
Can we get married the same day?
Same-day or short-notice appointments may be available depending on our schedule. Please request a date, email, or text us for availability.
Is this the same as a courthouse wedding?
No. Diamond Wedding Chapel is not the courthouse. Most Indiana counties, including Marion County, do not perform courthouse wedding ceremonies for couples. The courthouse is where you apply for and receive your Indiana marriage license.

Diamond Wedding Chapel offers a simple marriage license signing with our in-house wedding officiant, so you can complete the legal marriage process without needing a full wedding ceremony.
Can we bring family or friends?
Yes. You may bring up to 4 guests for our Ruby pack for marriage license signing appointment. Up to 50 guest for our Emerald or Diamond packages.
Can we take photos?
You may take a few quick photos during your Ruby appointment. This option does not include chapel photo time or a full photo session. The office is fully decorated with a white and gold wedding arch and 4 comfortable chairs.
What if we want a real ceremony?
If you want music, a walk down the aisle, chapel seating, guests, or a more traditional ceremony feel, please choose one of our Emerald or Diamond wedding packages. Starting at $350.
